Pro photographer and past DP contributor Glyn Davies (www.glyndavies.com) will be appearing in an ITV Wales programme tomorrow night at 8pm. ‘Tidal Wales’ takes a look at the people whose lives are governed by the tides that shape the coast of Wales. Look out for Glyn in the section filmed at the barren Dulas Estuary.

Depressed by the ‘no-show’ summer Britain was once again forced to endure, I leapt at the chance to spend two weeks basking in the illusive sun, which was apparently hovering valiantly over in Malta. I journeyed there with my very generous mum and sister Nicola.
The petite island, characterized as the ‘full-stop’ on the Med, is rife with photographic opportunities, accommodating numerous towns, sites of historically interest and vistas galore, Malta is a must-visit for the photography enthusiast seeking a sun-filled getaway. The island of Gozo is only a few minutes away by ferry and albeit smaller than its neighbor, has just as much view finder fodder to quench your creative thirst.
To find out more visit www.visitmalta.com or email me at natalie.johnson@imagine-publishing.co.uk and I’ll answer your questions the best I can

We receive quite a few letters from female readers every month saying how refreshing it is to see a female team running Digital Photographer. Photography is no longer a hobby, past time or profession of just men. And it seems that sentiment is finally reaching camera manufacturers too…
In support of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Calumet Photographic has responded to the demands of its growing number of women customers by making available a limited number of pink leather fashion camera bags – both online and via its flagship Drummond Street store, situated in London.
Two different eye catching and stylish varieties are available, sure to have fashionistas fighting hand over stiletto. The first smaller-sized camera bag combines patent pink leather with a brown croc trim and is priced at £109.99, while the second medium sized bag marries a deeper pink leather finish to a croc pattern trim and comes with a price tag of £159.99.
Key features include:
* Convenient dual carrying handles and comfortable padded detachable shoulder strap
* Padded interior with adjustable Velcro dividers for flexible configuration
* Interior netted pocket allowing quick access to memory cards and other small items
Michele Channer, Calumet UK Marketing Director said: “Not only are these limited edition bags great to accessorise with, they’re also ideally suited to the female photographer who wants to transport her camera kit – small or large – within a safe and practical environment. Plus, let’s not forget there is a serious issue at the heart of this; the bags are helping in the promotion of a very important cause in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
For more details about Calumet’s funky limited edition pink camera bags visit www.calumetphoto.co.uk or call in to Drummond Street during October.

Unfortunately, pro portrait photographer Jim Herrington’s email address was misprinted in the portrait feature in issue 72. It should read: jim@jimherrington.com. Apologies for the error.

In issue 75, we’re traveling across the pond to visit New York in our location guide, and we’d love to feature some of your shots!
It’s a great opportunity for some of our American readers to take part in the feature, or, indeed, for those of you from elsewhere who’ve been to the Big Apple.
All you have to do is send your images, along with the shot details and a short description of each photo, to dphotographer@imagine-publishing.co.uk
Good luck!

It seems that barely a month can go past without the DP website reaching another milestone. And this month it’s 30,000 user uploaded images!
Here in the DP office we work hard to make sure that not only is the magazine the best it can be, but that the website works hard to offer you the latest news, opinions and reviews (courtesy of sister site www.digicambuyer.co.uk).
However, the success of dphotographer.co.uk is down to you, the dedicated users who come by every day and upload their latest images, read the daily news bulletin and participate in the lively debates on our forum.
A massive thank you DP readers and site visitors alike - we couldn’t have built the friendly and successful community you see before you today, if it wasn’t for you.

The DP designer - Jordan Travers - and I headed over to Wimborne Model Town in Wimborne Minster (suprisingly enough) in the rain yesterday afternoon, armed with no less than 6 tripods, for bizarre reasons that I can’t divulge as yet. It’s part of a creative project that - hopefully - you’ll see the fruits of in issue 74…
For those of you who haven’t yet had the pleasure of visiting the model town, we can highly recommend it. As you’ll see if you visit www.wimborne-modeltown.com it’s a 1/10th scale model of Wimborne Minster, as it was in the 1950’s. The attention to detail is stunning, with tiny pots pans, books and other merchandise adorning the shop windows, a wedding taking place in the Minster Church and all sorts of other exciting finds. There are activity sheets for children too, along with a play area, putting lawn, model railway and tea rooms overlooking the gardens.
The place is run by volunteers, who do an amazing job of maintaining the model town and putting on special events, like the upcoming Candlelight Evenings (20th & 27th August, 6.30pm-10pm - see website for more details).
Thank you to Pauline Stevens, who kindly allowed us to invade the streets of the model town, for the purposes of a crazy creative vision!
