Some shooting advice...

I'm heading of to Prague for a few days for my first visit. I would be interested in suggestions for camera settings so that I actually see things as well as photograph them.
I'n planning on taking an 18 - 55mm and a 28 - 105mm lens. The camera too a Canon EOS400d, and that's it. Nothing fancy.
