Ah yes. I find it is always best to carry a tripod, even if you don't intend to use it. Best to have something and not need it than the other way around. How is the 645 with high ISOs? Not the most common camera, so no real reports of any shortfalls it has...

It's very good at dealing with high ISO, although you will always notice it when pixel peeping at 100%.

This is one taken at ISO 1600 with a manual 80 - 160 lens at 160 mm and at maximum aperture at a gig in Sweden

For some reason Flickr won't show the photo any more, strange that!

That's not too shabby really now is it. Although i wouldn't expect anything less for the cost of the camera.

Oh and i can't help but notice the location of that shot. Care to elaborate, as it looks like a cave...

Well you can see it then, for some reason I can't on my macbook pro. How strange! It used to be a quarry. It was a fantastic place to perform, and we had the midnight sun too since that was in July. I was quite surprised that I got a useable shot as the 645D is definitely not a camera for a gig as the processing time is just too slow...

I imagine the acoustics in there are very different to anywhere else. Must have been a fascinating place to perform.

Mine is showing now - I was quite impressed with getting the shot with manual focus at maximum aperture at maximum zoom! I of course have used noise reduction in LR3 on this, but I was happy with it off the shot, but happier after processing. I try not to get too much into the habit of constant pixel peeping! especially as you'd be unlikely to print at full resolution. Have printed this at 18" x 12" and no sign of noise

Pixel peeping and noise discussions aside, that is a rather nice capture! Good quality of light and the picture tells a nice story.

The acoustics were very good. At the back they had a pirate ship for children's shows! It was just outside Rattvik which is about 3 hours north of Stockholm

Thanks! I was waiting to come back on stage and saw the opportunity of a shot so ran to my dressing room grabbed my camera changed the lens and then focussed and hoped for the best. It is one of my favourites and my musical director on the piano didn't realise he was looking straight at me at the time. For me it symbolises what this kind of photography is about - freezing a moment in time. I was amazed I got it as lighting was far from ideal. I just saw the frame in my head which made me instiinctvely grab my camera and that particular lens. Doubt I'll get this kind of opportunity when I get to Taiwan - flying there via Hong Kong tonight, then back to Europe on Saturday/Sunday for a German tour. It's a stadium gig, will try to have my 200mm prime on in case.

Now that's what I call multi tasking!! I think it's the tricky lighting that actually makes this shot, it's very atmospheric!
I hope you get a chance to explore Hong Kong and take some shots - if you don't have long, then head up the peak for fantastic city views!
Have a great show - looking forward to seeing some more pics! :D

Literally just changing planes in Hong Kong unfortunately. Have been to the Peak before but always when it's humid and foggy unfortunately

Thank you, I'm about half way through Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson which is a good read. It;s a pity I won't get to spend any time in Hong Kong as this is a flying visit to Asia. I didn't get any keepers last time I was there for a few days partly down to having engagements during twilight that meant it was too dark for useful shots and also too humid and foggy so the sky was too lit up for decent shots. Will keep trying to experiment and practise though :D

I have two full days here (now into the second day. Weather is, lets say less than perfect. Raining quite hard today so will be surprised if my camera leaves my backpack. These were from yesterday which was very murky
