yeah Glenn Karlsen is the exeption to the rule, but i don't think they are HDR portraits though. I think its a technique he has perfected called "Hyper Real" portraiture. I saw his workflow in a mag that was unfortunately very poorly done as no one could follow it, not Glenn's fault but the fault of the mag. Anyway his technique emphasises a lot of layers and blending etc if i remember correctly but i don't think it was HDR, i could be wrong however.
