Hi,
looking to get more serious about photography as a hobby, and move from P & S "snaps".
Thinking of buying a Canon 550d as my first DSLR, but then tempted by a Canon-refurbished 50d for similar money!
Aware that both models are not the latest available, but that is not a concern - I realise that the camera will ultimately be merely the plastic & metal box behind the lens, which is where the money should be invested in future.
Not too interested in video capability (or lack-of, on the 50d).
I expect my intended future photography will be a mixed-bag - architecural, landscape, some sports, and who knows.
Had thought that the 50d is the better of the two (marginally, and depending of course on user-requirements), but then i've briefly read a few posts with people suggesting the older 40d is way better than the 50d !
would be interested to read peoples' thoughts.
David
