Yea the weather down here isn't much better. Very windy and murky.

I like the shot of the Loughrigg tree. The path leading up to it really draws your eye in. Is there any chance more detail and contrast can be gotten from the path? Seems like it is a tiny bit flat to me.

I used curves in LR3 to add a bit more contrast, how's this

Schoolboy error on my part earlier. I was using my macbook on battery power and thought it looked a little dark so lightened it. I then plugged it in and as it's calibrated when plugged in it then looked too bright.

Must set up a battery powered profile with my Spyder...

Love this tree shot (the newest version) it's got lots of atmosphere with the mist & clouds in the brackground and the tree is a fantastic focal point.
Langdale panoramic is a great shot too, although I would like to see just a touch more foregorund to help lead you in a bit more. :D

Thanks Rosie. I did have 15% more foreground but the second shot from the right was out of line the horizon was higher than the other 3 despite me believing that I'd read my automatic level on my camera right. I find doing panos with longer lenses interesting. This one is quite extreme at 400mm (312mm 35mm equivalent). Will definitely redo this one when I get a brief break between Poland and Switzerland.

400mm for a pano! I can see why though. Wide angle pano shots often neglect the far detail, so you loose that part of the shot.

It would have been good to get a wide angle and a telephoto pano fromt the same spot.

This one was posted in a different post, but was with the 33-55 from the same spot

I like the wide angle panorama, there is more detail in the foreground to hold your interest. However, it's also great to be able to see the detail in the background for once.

The weather's not up to much here today either, I'm afraid. I do like this time of year for temperature inversions over the lakes in the mornings, though, so am going to try and get one of those shots in the next few weeks if I can. In the meantime, here's a picture I took near Ambleside the other week. I don't yet have a tripod so had to make do with balancing the camera on a rock which might account for the slight lack of sharpness.

If I'm not mistaken that's along the paths up to Stock Ghyll. I took a photo further back from there about 5 or 6 weeks ago...

I'll try again with the 120mm next time I'm up - I'm back in Munich now lovely 0430 start this morning, performing on live tv later on this evening on a TV telethon....

It would be really good to see some behind the scenes shots from one of your live shows. I bet there are countless excellent opportunities for great candid photos.

That's correct, singingsnapper... my original pic is actually wider but the forum truncates it. Clicking on this link might work better:

Back in the lakes for a few days before I head to London and Bristol for concerts for Parkinsons UK and Salvation Army respectively. Weather again not really on my side but took a few shots in the Rydal Valley
